Have feedback about the new items? Let us know in the official thread! Please remember to keep all feedback constructive!

Am I the only one to find most of the items on the list expensive ? 15$ to reset my stats, 12$ for a 30 slot bag, 15$ for 48 storage slot (48 is not very much in my opinion). At those price I’ll just play a pay to play game, it’ll cost me 15$ a month and I’ll be satisfied with only paying in game gold or even farming for some items. The game is fun and all, but the cash shop is still a turn off for me, and it seems like I’m not the only one thinking that. I guess I’ll be playing until it becomes unplayable without the cash shop, and then move to another game or return to an old love.

Allods is truly a Russian game!

My first XAES run

March 10, 2010 1 comment

First thing first, you should know that I never really liked doing instanced dungeons or raids. I tried in some other games before but it never really appealed to me. I’ve always be the gatherer/crafter/quester kind of guy. I never absolutely wanted the best gear or the best stats, I just want to enjoy the game I play. So, with that said, let’s start.

Yesterday Zawa and I decided to try XAES to finish some quests and see what it looks like. But before even thinking of going in we had to find a group to help us. We tried it before only the two of us… and it was clearly too much for only the two on us.

So after finding 4 other people we went in, everyone was level 11 or 12, except for Mutie who was 17 and my healer who was level 9 at the time. At first I didn’t really know what to expect so I went in without expectations. The first part of the instance was normal, monsters were only a little more difficult than the other one in the rest of the city, although for my healer, almost every monsters are hard, so no real surprise there. We finally met the first boss, a Goblin, unfortunately I forgot his name. It was not as hard as I thought, everyone seemed to know their job and everything went smoothly.

Then we moved to the other part, killing every monster on our way. We got to the second boss, a Gibberling. He jumped on us from the stairs and attacked us. He was a little harder to kill than the first boss we met. It look like he had a bit more HP and defense. But we brought him down quite easily.

After that one we went in the building to continue on our journey through XAES. Everything was smooth and relaxed. But then, we got to the boss. I don’t know what happened but it didn’t went as smoothly as the rest of the run, at least for me. I got killed by a little monster that passed through our front line of attack and got to me who was trying to keep everyone alive. Being a healer… a life long irony, you try to keep everyone alive but you can’t keep yourself alive, in my case anyway.

The good thing here is that I finished a couple of quests and managed to ding level 10. After that we made another run with other people and it went even smoother that the first time. In all that I had a great time and my Allods Online meter went up a little and each and everyday I’m getting to like the game more and more.

Here’s a  video of our run. Enjoy

My time in Allods

March 8, 2010 4 comments

Last week I’ve been playing a little more of Allods. I got my healer at level 09, almost 10. I usually try to go through the first 10~15 levels of a game before deciding if I’m staying or not. This time I think I’ll stay for a while. I don’t think it’s the best game ever and I’m a little burned out on the fantasy style, although I’m playing The Empire and the Arisen are a little more steampunk-ish. I’m staying because a couple of my close friends are playing. I liked the guild I had in Runes of Magic, but between that and playing with some old real life friends, I’ll choose the RL ones.

Flaming eyes!

Flaming eyes, always nice!

I’m still trying to understand everything in AO, but at the same time I take my time because I don’t want to spoil everything right now, I still want to discover new stuff when I get to level 20, 30 even 40 (if I get there one day). I like being the healer, but right now I don’t feel like a healer at all, I don’t feel like a mage, I don’t feel like a melee, I don’t feel like a DPS, you get the picture… I’ve been reading a bunch of blog post, forum post about the healer, and almost everyone seems to go the melee-healer way. I guess I’ll look into that as time goes on.

I’ve been looking to play the trial for Fallen Earth another time, I really liked it the first time but I couldn’t play as much as I wanted… I’m still asking myself if I want to pay to play and feel like I should play because I’m paying or if I should simply continue with Allods and don’t worry about paying until I need to reset my talents or my stats.

Will Allods become my MMO of choice ? I still don’t know, but right now it has a big chance of becoming my new home for a while.

Allods Online

February 21, 2010 Leave a comment

I was supposed to do a blog post with my impressions of Allods Online, but with the cash shop fiasco I decided to wait a little bit to see what’s going to come out of all of this. I’m an avid Keen and Graev reader and I’ve been following his adventures in Allods from the beginning, it always made me want to play it, but I was torn between Allods and Runes of Magic.

Earlier this week there was an update in Allods that opened the cash shop with item worth 20x more than the Russian counterpart. I don’t mind cash shop, but 20$ for 6 more slot in you bag ? That’s ridiculous, and it seems I’m not the only one thinking that.

So after all of that I decided it would be best to wait a couple months to see if the situation is fixed or if it gets worst. For now I’ll keep playing my Warrior/Knight (who is now 20/20!) in Runes and Dimitri Mishkin in GE:S. Speaking of which, GE:S rolled out the beta 4, adding new weapons, maps characters.
